The best business idea is the thing people already ask you for
If friends keep asking for your cakes, your help with their garden or your advice on their CV, that is demand. Here is how to tell if it is enough to sell.

Most people look for a business idea in the wrong place. They search lists of "trending" ideas, when the best one is often already in their week: the thing friends, neighbours and colleagues keep asking them to do.
Write down every ask for two weeks
Keep a note on your phone. Every time someone asks you to bake, fix, teach, make or sort something, write it down with who asked. After two weeks, one or two things will stand out.
Friends are a start. Strangers are proof.
Friends ask because they know you. The real test is whether people who do not know you would pay. Post it once in a local group, or tell a friend of a friend the price, and see who answers.
Ask for money before you buy anything
Before you spend on equipment or stock, ask three people to pay a real price for the first order. If they say yes, you have a business. If they hesitate at the price, you have learned that cheaply.
An idea people already ask for needs far less selling than one you have to explain. That is the whole advantage, and it is worth more than any trend.
